What is the municipal solid waste fee and what does it include?

In order to support the service financially, a municipal solid waste collection fee will be charged through the Autonomous Agency for Tax Collection and Management (OARGT) of the Provincial Council of Cáceres. The frequency of this fee’s collection will be semi-annual, according to the Municipal Solid Waste Collection Ordinance, Official Provincial Gazette No. 44 of 05/03/2021.

All income isre-invested to improve and maintain the service’s operations. The MásMedio Consortium, the Provincial Council of Cáceres, and the City Hall do not receive profits from this fee.

Should I register with the environmental services for waste collection, water treatment, and water supply?

Yes. It is compulsory for subscribers to register for service provision. MásMedio takes as a reference the registration list provided by the City Council to issue the first invoices. On our website you will find our form entitled MM100 Service Registration, which must be completed with the necessary information and sent to us through email.

What is the Water Supply and Treatment Management Fee and what does it include?

In order to support the service financially, a management fee will be charged through the Autonomous Agency for Tax Collection and Management (OARGT) of the Provincial Council of Cáceres. The frequency of this fee’s collection will be semi-annual, according to the Potable Water Service Ordinance, Official Provincial Gazette No. 179 of 19/09/2022  and the Wastewater Treatment Ordinance, Official Provincial Gazette No. 188 of 30/09/2022.

All income is re-invested to improve and maintain the service’s operations. The MásMedio Consortium, the Provincial Council of Cáceres, and the City Hall do not receive profits from this fee.

How often are fees paid?

Depending on the service provided, payment will be:

  • Municipal solid waste fee: payment is semi-annual.
  • Potable water treatment fee (supply): payment is quarterly, as well as meter reading.
  • Wastewater treatment fee: payment is semi-annual, in accordance with the readings in the supply registration list.

How can I pay my bill and/or sign up for direct debit?

The MásMedio consortium will charge for service provision in accordance with the terms and conditions in the Ordinances, which you can read below, and the charge will be collected through the Autonomous Agency for Tax Collection and Management (OARGT).

To make a payment, you must ask the City Hall of your municipality if the fee is payable to MásMedio or to the City Hall itself.

I want to access the OARGT electronic offices. What do I need?

The OARGT electronic offices require a PC with Windows 7 or higher and a web browser (Internet Explorer 11, Edge, Chrome, or Firefox).

Java version 1.8_074 or higher (downloadable at: https://www.java.com/en/download/ )

Cl@ve, Electronic Certificate from the National Currency and Stamp Factory, or Electronic ID (a card reader is needed).

What should I do if there is a mistake on my invoice?

If the mistake has to do with issues related to the collection of fees for services (waste collection, potable water service, etc.) this must be processed by the Autonomous Agency for Tax Collection and Management (OARGT) of the Provincial Council of Cáceres.

How is meter reading done in the water supply service?

Meter reading is done quarterly. Technicians from the Water Treatment Station of your municipality will collect the necessary data from your meter (normally installed outside the house) to record the amount of water consumed, calculate the amount owed, and notify you of the corresponding charge.

If it is not possible to collect your information from the meter at your home or business premises, you will be notified by normal mail with a form to fill out like the one attached here, where you can also see how to fill it in correctly.

Is there any kind of exemption from paying fees?

No, under no circumstances. As this is a fee, the Local Treasury Law does not allow for reductions or exemptions to be applied.

The only exception is if the building, business premises, or home is classified as abandoned or in ruins.

Do I have to pay the waste collection fee even if the house is uninhabited?

Yes. This fee must be paid for homes, whether they are inhabited permanently, temporarily, or uninhabited.

For water management and service fees, you must contact our customer service offices and request a change of ownership or cancellation of the service via form MM100, to which the supporting documentation must be attached. To re-establish service, the user must once again register for the service, paying the registration fee.

What is the landfill tax?

The objective of the Regional Government of Extremadura is to promote the correct separation of waste for its subsequent recycling so that it can be put to good use,thus reducing the impact generated on the environment stemming from waste disposal in landfills due to incorrect separation in the trash bins installed in the street (Law 8/2016, of December 12, on tax, property, financial, and administrative measures of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura).

Currently, the amount is €12 + VAT (10%) for each ton of waste left at the Ecoparks (selective collection facilities that aim towards proper waste management). MásMedio acts as an intermediary between the trash bins located on the street and transport to the aforementioned facilities.

Can I choose the fee?

No, the amounts set for each fee are fixed and/or variable depending on the applicable ordinance for the service. You can find more information on fees at the following links:

What types of properties pay the fees?

All properties that receive or can receive services.

Can the fee be divided between several account holders?

No, that possibility does not exist.  Fees arecharged  to a single representative of the house and/or business premises.

Can I pay my bills at the customer service offices?

Are waste collection or water service fees paid for owning a garage parking space?

Yes, if the garage is independent from the home.

A fee is not necessary for garages built in the home.

I am stopping my business activity in the place where I currently am working. Do I have to continue paying the waste collection and water management fees?

Yes. In the case of waste collection and when non-domestic activities are stopped, the fees will no longer be based on professional activities and category II fees will start to be applied.  Further information can be found in Official Provincial Gazette 2021-905.

For water management and service fees, you must contact our customer service offices and request a change of ownership or cancellation of the service via form MM100, to which the supporting documentation must be attached.

I need to change account ownership when selling, renting, or buying a property. How is this done?

You should request a change in service ownership using form MM130, notifying the modification of data on the service registration list and attaching the specified documents.

The documents will be logged and sent by MásMedio to the Autonomous Agency for Tax Collection and Management (OARGT) so that they can be verified and processed.

The change of the data appearing on the registration list will take effect from the payment period following the date on which the change was made.

I have detected an incident with the trash bins, trucks belonging to the service, and/or the water distribution network. How do I notify this or make a claim?

Help from citizens is vital to solve incidents as quickly as possible thanks to notifications and/or claims made by citizens.

Thus, we have form MM120, which is a  general request form that can be duly filled out to make notification of any claim or incident.

I need someone to manage the services on my behalf. How can I provide authorization for him/her to do so?

Download form MM130 to grant representation (authorization) to a third party to act on your behalf in any of the matters permitted on the form. This form, just like all the other ones we have online, must be accompanied by the necessary documentation that is specified in the Instructions section.
