MásMedio manages more than 40 wastewater treatment plants and this is our most popular service in the region. The quality of the water that returns to our rivers and reservoirs is a priority for the MásMedio Consortium, and we are continuously striving for the sustainable and effective management of the wastewater treatment facilities that we manage.
“Plan Depura” Water Treatment Plan – the path towards comprehensive water treatment
Reaching comprehensive water treatment in the entire Province is a priority objective for the Provincial Council of Cáceres and MásMedio. For this reason, an agreement has been signed between the Regional Government of Extremadura and the Provincial Council for the establishment of the necessary water purification infrastructure in the Province. In the case of the Provincial Council of Cáceres, working hand-in-hand with the MásMedio Consortium, the investment commitment exceeds 100 million euros over the next 10 years.
MásMedio aims at water treatment adapted to the realities of the Province while also being sustainable and having low energy and environmental costs. For this reason, following the terms and conditions established in the “Plan Depura” Water Treatment Plan and based on successful experiences from other similar regions in Europe, we are committed to using technology whenever implementation is possible (biodiscs, constructed wetlands, etc.).
Solar energy and sustainability
Both for the “Plan Depura” Treatment Plan and for improving treatment infrastructure, we are committed to using solar energy as a means to reduce the impact that energy has at treatment infrastructures, promoting self-consumption and energy independence at our facilities.
Financial sustainability
As in the case of supply, the service’s financial backing is based on charging an equitable and fair Provincial rate, allowing surplus monies to be reinvested in improving wastewater treatment infrastructure.
